<p>The scholarships are granted for specialization, master’s, Ph.D., and medical specialization courses as well as for postgraduate-level research, postdoctoral stays, postgraduate mobility programs, artistic creation residences, high-level conferences, residences for Mexicanist researchers, residences for media collaborators, and special chairs for visiting professors.</p>
<p><span id="more-4014"></span>Scholarships are not granted for preparatory courses; distance, open learning courses; and direct doctorates (programs that comprise M.A. + Ph.D.)</p>
<p>The scholarships are open only for the programs, institutions and hospitals listed in this Call.</p>
<p>Scholarships are not offered for dentistry, plastic surgery, marketing, accounting, advertising, and business management.</p>
<p>Scholarships are awarded on a yearly basis for a duration of up to:</p>
<ul>
<li>1 year for specialization studies</li>
<li>2 years for M.A. studies</li>
<li>3 years for Ph.D. studies</li>
<li>3 years for medical specialties and subspecialties</li>
<li>1 to 12 months for postgraduate research and postdoctoral stays</li>
<li>3 to 5 months for postgraduate mobility programs</li>
</ul>
<p><strong> Applicants’ Profile</strong></p>
<p>Preference will be given to candidates that:</p>
<ul>
<li>Further studies on prioritary subjects for the development of their country.</li>
<li>Work in particularly important areas for their country’s’ institutional development.</li>
<li>Study postgraduate courses that are not offered in their country.</li>
<li>Carry out studies or research in institutions located in the states of the Mexican Republic.</li>
<li>Hold faculty or research positions at public higher education institutions or scientific research centers in their country.</li>
<li>Are public officials in charge of areas or programs of special interest for their country.</li>
<li>Work at human, social, or economic development programs focusing on marginalized groups or at socially or economically depressed regions.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong> General Requirements</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Submitting the corresponding application (A or B) within the application deadlines.</li>
<li>Having an official Government candidacy endorsement as part of application A.</li>
<li>Holding a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. degree as required by the degree program for which the scholarship is requested.</li>
<li>Having a minimum cumulative grade average of 8 on a scale of 0-10, if a different scale is used, it is essential to submit its equivalency.</li>
<li>Receiving academic acceptance from the host Mexican institution</li>
<li>Spanish. If Spanish is not the applicant’s native language, proof of advanced knowledge of Spanish issued by a university or language learning center must be attached.</li>
<li>Meeting the requirements set forth in this Call. Incomplete filings or original documents will not be received.</li>
<li>For postgraduate mobility scholarships, an academic acceptance letter of the host institution must be provided together with a communication from the applicant’s institution acknowledging completion of educational credits.</li>
<li>This Call is not open for residents of Mexico, foreign diplomats recognized in our country or their relatives, or individuals holding a dual citizenship by naturalization.</li>
<li>The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (SRE) does not receive original documents except for medical certificates.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Application Submission</strong></p>
<p>All scholarship applications will be submitted to the Mexican embassy or concurrent embassy for the applicant’s country through that country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs or Education and/or the government institution appointed for such end. All “A” applications require a candidacy endorsement signature from the applicant’s government since it is an inter-governmental offer. Such signature is essential for the application to be considered. The applications must be submitted to the Mexican embassies between June 21 and October 15, 2010. copies of the documents must be authenticated and a postille-stamped when required by the host institution as a condition to accept the applicant.</p>

<p><strong>PhD</strong><br />
The PhD candidates studying the history of the use, knowledge and effects of daylight and artificial light in Architecture in premodern or modern times will dedicate two thirds of their time to their thesis and the other third to the team&#8217;s research project (teaching activities included). The annual salary will amount to 40&#8242;200– 46&#8242;200 Swiss Francs for a maximum of four years.</p>
<p><strong>Postdoc</strong><br />
The postdoc candidate with research experience in 19th to 21st century History of Architecture will investigate in his/her project the use, knowledge and effects of daylight and artificial light in the field of modern and/or contemporary Architecture, to which he/she will dedicate two thirds of his/her time.</p>
<p>The other third will be dedicated to the team&#8217;s research project (teaching activities included). The annual salary (80%) will amount to 60&#8242;000–66&#8242;000 Swiss Francs for a maximum of four years. The employment will begin per October 1st 2010 or by arrangement.</p>
<p><strong>Eligibility</strong><br />
Candidates with a University master or diploma in Art History, Architecture, History, Cultural or Visual Studies from any nationality are welcome to apply. The knowledge of two Swiss national languages plus English is required.</p>

<p>While many donations have been kindly offered by enterprises and groups, most of the donors are individuals who are sympathetic with the Founder&#8217;s ideals, and maintain contributions to the Fund from their limited incomes.</p>
<p>Successful applicants are urged to seriously consider and understand the goodwill of those persons, and ensure that the provided fellowships are utilized effectively.</p>
<p><span id="more-3896"></span><strong>I. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS</strong></p>
<p>Applicants of non-Japanese nationality who meet all of the following eligibility requirements are invited to submit the required application documents.</p>
<ol>
<li>Applicants must hold a Ph.D. (Doctorate) degree, or be recognized by the Matsumae International Foundation as possessing equivalent academic qualifications.</li>
<li>Applicants must be below 40-years old level at the time of application.</li>
<li>Applicants must have sufficient conversational ability in English or Japanese to prevent insurmountable difficulties during their research activities in Japan.</li>
<li>Applicants should not have been in Japan in the past and/or in the present.</li>
<li>Applicants should have firm positions and professions in their home countries, and should return to their countries on completion of their fellowship stay by the Foundation.</li>
<li>Applicants who have previously been invited by the Foundation are not eligible for this fellowship program.</li>
<li>Applicants must be of sound health and not physically handicapped in any way which would not prevent from carrying out research in Japan.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>II. FIELDS OF STUDY</strong></p>
<p>Fields of study such as natural science, engineering and medicine are given first priority.</p>
<p><strong>III. PERIOD &amp; NUMBER OF FELLOWSHIPS</strong></p>
<p>At the time of application, please indicate the length of your stay (between 3 to 6 months) from April 2011 to March 2012. The Foundation prefers long stays (such as six months) to shorter (such as three months). The number of fellowships given is about 20.</p>
<p><strong>IV. HOST INSTITUTION IN JAPAN</strong></p>
<p>Applicants are free to select host institutions (university research laboratories, national research institutions or the corresponding facilities of private industry) in which to carry out their research. However, applicants are cautioned that they are obliged to obtain acceptance from such host institutions prior to submitting their applications. The Foundation cannot give counsel or advice to an applicant concerning his/her host institution in Japan.</p>
<p><strong>V. APPLICATION PROCEDURE</strong></p>
<p>Applicants should obtain the current issue of the Fellowship Announcement from the Foundation. To obtain the announcement, write to MIF with name and address by postal mail, or by E-mail. Or, download the announcement in PDF-format file from the webpage of the Foundation and print out the Application Form.</p>
<p>The Foundation cannot entertain requests for waivers of the eligibility requirements and other conditions, listed in the Fellowship Announcement, and will not respond to such requests. Application must be submitted from the applicant&#8217;s home country. Under no circumstances will an application be accepted from a person already in Japan.</p>

<p>The Foundation never receives applications by Fax or E-Mail.</p>
<p>Applications must be received by the Foundation by <strong>August 31, 2010</strong>, at the latest.</p>
<p><strong>VI. APPLICATION DOCUMENTS</strong></p>
<p>All of the following documents (#1~#8) &#8211; A4 in size &#8211; should be submitted on one occasion by the applicant to the Foundation.</p>
<p>All documents must be type-written in English. Documents written in any language other than English are not accepted. Submitted applications which do not contain all of the required documents will be automatically rejected. The Foundation will not be responsible for costs incurred in submitting an application, and reserves the right to request additional documents if necessary. All documents received become the property of the Foundation, and will not be returned. After receiving application documents, the Foundation will send the acknowledgement to applicants by postal mail within one month.</p>
<p>The Foundation will not respond to individual inquiry co ncerning the status/arrival of  application documents.</p>
<ol>
<li><strong>Application Form</strong> (Applicants should use the original Form provided by the Foundation, or an exact photocopy. A self-made Form is not accepted.) The form is made of two pages. Applicant should attach photograph taken within three months. Applicants should ensure that every item in the application form, without exception, is properly filled in the spaces provided. (Please complete all questions.) Applicants should sign and date in the form.</li>
<li><strong>The Research Project.</strong> Applicant should describe this document by oneself. This should include detailed information on the purpose, methodology, content of the research, and the schedule of the project. The research project must be discussed in detail with the host scientist, and the planned content must be consistent with the research facilities at the host institution.</li>
<li><strong>Complete List of Publications</strong>. This should include full details of the publication: when and where published, co-authors&#8217; names (where applicable), size and number of pages, etc. Please indicate in red the title of any publications on the list which are submitted as requested in item &#8220;#4&#8243;.</li>
<li><strong>Reprint(s) of what the applicant considers to be his/her most important publication(s)</strong>. If the reprint(s) is unavailable in English, please attach a brief abstract (summary) in English written by the applicant.</li>
<li><strong>Personal History</strong> (Curriculum Vitae)</li>
<li><strong>A letter of recommendation</strong> from the applicant&#8217;s employer and/or supervisor (e.g. Faculty Dean) testifying to academic ability and achievements, and confirming the availability of study leave covering the grant period.</li>
<li><strong>A certified copy of the applicant&#8217;s academic certificates</strong> (degrees of Ph.D., Master, Bachelor) issued by the university concerned. (These documents should be in English. If the certificate(s) is unavailable in English, please attach the translation in English.)</li>
<li><strong>An invitation lette</strong>r with signature by the host scientist confirming; the period of stay, the research project, the availability of research facilities/materials, and the arrangement of lodging accommodation, under MIF Fellowship Program.</li>

<p><strong>VII. SCREENING &amp; NOTIFICATION OF RESULT OF AN APPLICATION</strong></p>
<ol>
<li>Applications are examined by the Screening Committee of the Foundation on the basis of academic value and the degree or perfection of the research projects.</li>
<li>The results will be sent directly to the applicants after the deadline of application, by the end of December, 2010.</li>
<li>The Foundation will send a Grant Letter to successful applicants.</li>
<li>The Foundation does not issue announcements concerning the screening progress, nor will the Foundation respond to inquiries concerning the status of such applications.</li>
<li>When the decisions of the Screening Committee are announced, the Foundation will neither announce the reasons for the decision nor respond to individual inquiry concerning results.</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In accordance with the Regulations for Advanced Training and Qualification of Human Resources, and taking into account the Research Grant Holder Statute, published by Law no. 40/2004 of August 18, the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) opens a call for funding of individual grants of the following types:<span id="more-3857"></span></p>
<p><strong>Post Doctoral Grants (BPD)</strong></p>
<p>These grants are intended for individuals who have already completed a doctoral degree, preferably within the last five years, for the purpose of carrying out advanced research in Portuguese or foreign scientific institutes of recognized merit.</p>
<p><strong>Doctoral Grants (BD)</strong></p>
<p>These grants target holders of a university degree who are accepted as doctoral students in a Portuguese or foreign university.</p>
<p>The FCT calls particular attention to the recent changes in Articles 17, 19 and 20 of the Regulations, concerning the eligibility of foreign citizens’ applications.</p>
<p><strong>Funding</strong></p>
<p>The grants are funded by Programa Operacional Potencial Humano of QREN Portugal 2007-2013 and by the national budget through MCTES.<br />
Period of the Call</p>
<p>The call will be open from May 3rd to September 6th and will include two evaluation cycles.</p>
<p>The first cycle will evaluate all applications sealed before 5pm on June 17th, 2010. The second cycle will evaluate all applications sealed before on September 6th, 2010.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>The Institute of Clinical Medicine in Tallinn University of Technology is looking for two Post-Doctoral Research Fellowships and three Doctoral Students.</p>
<p>The Institute of Clinical Medicine (ICM) was established as part of the Technomedicum of Tallinn University of Technology in 2007. The Institute operates as a science-, study- and development establishment in the medicine sphere. Clinical medicine is an area that builds a competence bridge between biomedicine and the clinical manifestation of diseases. Our institute adds the missing expertise to the development of the preferential areas in TUT (such as chemistry- and biotechnology, biomedicine), filling an important link in the “Program for scientific-and developmental actions in chemistry, biotechnology and biomedicine for the period of 2005-2015” (TUT, 2005).</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>One six-month fellowship is available for a female social scientist from a developing nation, either pre- or post-doctoral, whose work addresses women’s economic and social empowerment in that nation. Adobe PDF IconDownload the flier (292 KB)The goal of the program is twofold: to advance the scholarly careers of women social scientists from the developing world, and to support research that identifies causes of gender inequity in the developing world and that proposes practical solutions for promoting women’s economic and social empowerment.</p>
<p>In addition to a $4,500/month stipend and housing and office space on the SAR campus, the Campbell Fellow receives travel, shipping, and library resource funds; health insurance; and the support of a mentoring committee of established scholar-practitioners.</p>
<p><span id="more-3794"></span>The following criteria guide SAR&#8217;s selection of the Campbell Fellow:</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Citizenship:</strong> Applicants may not be U.S. citizens or permanent residents and must be a national of a <a href="http://go.worldbank.org/S2ADVPZVX0" target="_blank">developing country that is currently eligible to borrow from the World Bank</a>.</li>
<li><strong>Academic Discipline:</strong> Applicants should be pursuing research in one of the social sciences: anthropology, economics, education, geography, history, law, linguistics, political science, psychology, social work, or sociology, or in an interdisciplinary field that incorporates two or more of these disciplines.</li>
<li><strong>Research Topic:</strong> Projects that identify causes of and/or solutions to gender inequity in the developing world, and thus contribute to women’s social and economic empowerment, will be favored. Sample topics include education and socialization of girls; globalization and the economic status of women; policies and practices toward family, reproduction, and women’s health; impacts of international and civil conflict on women; women’s roles in resolving such conflicts or sustaining civil society; media representations of women and the formation of ideologies of gender; the practice and process of gender-based development; and women in science and technology. SAR will select fellows on the strength of their clearly stated intention to serve their communities and countries of origin.</li>
<li><strong>English Fluency:</strong> To facilitate full engagement in the SAR intellectual community, applicants must demonstrate their fluency in English, such as through their record of professional interaction in written and spoken English.</li>

The International Federation of University Women offers a limited number of international fellowships and grants to women graduates for postgraduate research, study and training.</p>
<p>IFUW&#8217;s 2011/2012 competition is now open.</p>
<p>The fellowships and grants offered are for research, study and training<br />
to be carried out between 1 April 2011 to 31 December 2012.</p>
<p><span id="more-3684"></span><strong>Who can apply?</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>IFUW fellowships and grants are open only to women graduates who are members of <a href="http://www.ifuw.org/nfas/" target="_blank">IFUW&#8217;s national federations and associations</a> and to <a href="http://www.ifuw.org/join/independent.shtml" target="_blank">IFUW Independent Members</a>.</li>
<li>Students in any branch of learning may apply.</li>
<li>Fellowships are offered for the second and subsequent years of a doctoral programme and for post-doctoral studies. First year doctoral students do not qualify.</li>
<li>Grants are offered for any postgraduate programme.</li>
<li>The awards may be used in any country other than the one in which the applicant was educated and other then the one in which the applicant habitually resides.</li>
</ul>
<p>For example:</p>
<p>A New Zealand national or long-time resident enrolled in a New Zealand doctoral programme:</p>
<ul>
<li>Would not be eligible if her research is to be carried out in New Zealand.</li>
<li>Would be eligible if her research or part of her research is to be carried out in another country.</li>
</ul>
<p>A Kenyan national enrolled in a New Zealand doctoral programme:</p>
<ul>
<li>Would be eligible if she has done her undergraduate studies in a country other than New Zealand, regardless of where her research is to be carried out</li>
<li>Would not be eligible if she has done her undergraduate work in New Zealand and her doctoral research will be carried out in New Zealand</li>
<li>Would be eligible if she has done her undergraduate work in New Zealand and her doctoral research or part of her research will be carried out in a country other than New Zealand or her home country.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>When is the application deadline? </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Members of IFUW&#8217;s national federations and associations must apply through their national headquarters.  The deadline varies by country, but normally falls beween August and mid-September 2010.  Please ask your <a href="http://www.ifuw.org/nfas/" target="_blank">national headquarters</a> for the exact deadline.</li>
<li>IFUW Independent Members must apply through IFUW Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland.  The deadline is 1 October 2010.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>What are the other restrictions? </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Fellowships are for 8 to 12 months of work. They are intended to enhance the original research or scholarship on which a postgraduate applicant is already engaged. First year doctoral students and applicants just beginning their research are not eligible.</li>
<li>Grants are for a minimum of 2 months of work. They are awarded for specialized training, independent research, or to assist in the completion of a postgraduate degree.</li>
<li>IFUW Recognition Awards are for a minimum of 2 months of work.</li>
<li>Certain awards carry additional restrictions. The British Federation Crosby Hall Fellowship is reserved for women whose study or research will take place in Great Britain. The Dorothy Leet Grants are reserved for women graduates from countries with a comparatively low per capita income and for those who either wish to work as experts in these countries or whose research is of value to such countries.</li>
<li>All candidates must have obtained admission to the proposed place of study or research prior to applying to IFUW&#8217;s competition.</li>
<li>No assistance is given for attending conferences or for direct family support.</li>
<li>The awards are not renewable.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>What size are the awards? </strong></p>
<ul>
<li>The awards offered vary. Normally 16 to 25 fellowships and grants are offered in each competition.</li>
<li>Fellowships are the equivalent of 8,000 to 10,000 Swiss francs.</li>
<li>Grants are from 3,000 to 6,000 Swiss francs.</li>
<li>IFUW Recognition Awards are 1,000 Swiss francs.</li>

A postdoctoral position is available immediately at Bilkent University, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, to develop proteomic based methods for the early detection of colorectal, gastric, ovarian and lung cancer.</p>
<p>Applicants should have a PhD degree and extensive experience with difficult to express proteins, ELISA-based assay development, mass spectrometry, bioinformatics and statistical analysis. Excellent<br />
communication and organizational skills (both oral and written) as well as the ability to get along with co-workers and faculty in multi-disciplinary research teams are essential.</p>
<p><span id="more-3624"></span>Applicants should have demonstrated scientific productivity and be able to work independently, but cooperate closely with the primary investigator (Dr. Ali O. Gure).</p>
<p>Support will be through one of the TUBITAK based post-doctoral scholarship programs to which the candidate and the P.I. will submit a joint application.
