Münster’s Graduate Program on Cell Dynamics and Disease (CEDAD) offers cutting edge science together with the newly founded International Max Planck Research School – Molecular Biomedicine (IMPRS-MBM). CEDAD and IMPRS-MBM – jointly run by the University of Münster and the Max Planck Institute for Molecular Biomedicine – offer integrative approaches to biomedical research with a strong emphasis on imaging.

The program offers excellent scientific and transferable skills training. The program language is English. There are no tuition fees. Successful candidates will receive a competitive tax-free fellowship as well as support with administrative matters, accomodation, visas etc. We invite applications from highly qualified and motivated students of any nationality.

Applicants who pass the initial screening of the submitted documents will be invited for interviews in Münster (travel expenses will be covered by the program). These interviews include a short presentation of your Master /Diploma thesis and meetings with potential supervisors.
On the application form you should name three investigators from the CEDAD Graduate Program as potential supervisors of your thesis. If you are selected for an interview we will try to arrange meetings with the selected members of the Graduate Program and the selection committee will take your preferences for a research area into account. Admission to the Graduate Program usually includes the assignment to a specific lab that is based on your selection of potential thesis supervisors.

Requirements:

Applicants must hold a Master’s degree, or equivalent (e.g. German Diploma), in life sciences (e.g. biology, biochemistry, biotechnology), physics, chemistry, or related fields.
Applications are welcome even if the required degree has not been awarded by the time of application as long as it will be conferred before fellowships commence in October.
Applicants who are not native speakers of English should demonstrate an adequate competence of the English language by acceptable results in an internationally recognized test (e.g. TOEFL). Participation in such a test is recommended but not mandatory, because language skills can also be evaluated during the personal interviews with selected candidates. Proven higher education in English or a reasonably long stay in an English speaking country are acceptable as equivalents.

  3. Official Transcript / Record of Study: Detailed documentation of your academic work (list of courses attended; grades if applicable)
  4. Certificates: Certificates of relevant university examinations (e.g. Bachelor’s and Master’s degree, or Vordiplom and Diplom) and the certificate giving the right of admission to higher eduction in the appliant’s country such as Abitur, Matura, or equivalent (with individual grades). Include an explanation of the grading system

  6.
