[Germany] Research Associate Global Production Logistics and Computational Systems Biology at Jacobs University Bremen

The School of Engineering and Science at Jacobs University Bremen has an immediate opening for a Research Associate Position (f/m) in the research groups of Prof. Katja Windt (Global Production Logistics) and Prof. Marc-Thorsten Hütt (Computational Systems Biology).

The open full position is available either on the Ph.D. or postdoctoral level in an interdisciplinary project about bio-inspired logistics.

At the core of the project is a knowledge transfer between systems biology and production logistics. The successful candidate will have a joint affiliation to the workgroups of Prof. Katja Windt and Prof. Marc-Thorsten Hütt.

A suitable Ph.D. candidate will have research experience either in theoretical biology/bioinformatics/systems biology or modeling/analysis in logistics engineering.

On the postdoctoral level, we are looking for a strong candidate having a Ph.D. in theoretical physics, bioinformatics, mathematics, engineering (with application to logistics) or a related field.

In both cases, candidates are expected to have the ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment and should also possess programming skills and experience in C++ or Java.

The ideal candidate should be able to work autonomously, to show self initiative as well as a high degree of ability to work under pressure. The applicant should be an enthusiastic, creative and interactive individual who is focus driven and is interested in working in an international research team. Knowledge of German and fluency in spoken and written English is required.

Applications should include a single PDF attachment containing a cover letter which explains the logistics background of the candidate (either interest or research done), CV, copies of transcripts and degrees. Applicants should include earliest and latest possible starting dates. Candidates passing initial screening will be requested to supply two letters of reference.

Electronic submission to: s.manss@jacobs-university.de

The deadline for application is 16 September 2009, but applications will be processed as they are received.
