Scholarship 2009/2010 for Nutrition in Emergencies in UK

Scholarships are available for the short course Nutrition in Emergencies which will run from 8 to12 September 2009.

1. Amount: Full tuition fee waiver, accommodation, living expenses and flights to and from London.
2. Eligibility: You must be from a developing country.
3. Criteria: Financial need and to be employed in the relevant sector in a country prone to disaster.

GRADUATE STUDENT POSITION (PhD) IN BIOINFORMATICS

A position is available to identify (primary and secondary structure) motifs involved in a novel RNA trans-splicing process that we discovered recently (Marande & Burger 2007, Science 318:415).
Predicted motifs and postulated mechanisms will be the basis for in-vitro experiments, which, in turn, will help to narrow the search space of in-silico analyses.

Sant Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa announces the 2009 International Doctoral Programme in Economics jointly offered with University of Strasbourg “Louis Pasteur”… with scholarship

This is a 3-year programme designed for highly qualified and motivated students who wish to acquire research and analytical skills in economics. Students will be offered one year and a half of intensive courses and then proceed to research work supervised by internal and international Faculty plus a large group of Visiting Scholars. The Department of Resource Economics at the University of Nevada, Reno, has received additional funding to offer three research assistantships to new Graduate Students starting in fall 2009. The assistantships include a stipend of $18,000 per year, a partial tuition waiver, and health insurance coverage. Conditional on strong performance and in absence of any unforeseen shortfall in funding, the full assistantship will be available for up to five years. While we give preference to PhD students, well-qualified MS students are also encouraged to apply for this funding opportunity.

The research group “Operations Research and Scheduling” conducts research in the following fields:

• Project planning: planning of projects (such as IT projects, construction projects, …) under limited availability of resources, as an alternative for commercial software planning tools such as MS project, PrimaVera.
• Hospital planning: staffing and scheduling of personnel, Operation Room planning, patient planning and planning of various resources (scanners, beds,…).
• Project control: follow-up of time and cost of a project during project progress by means of Earned Value Management .

University graduates with more than one year’s career experience who apply for the full-time MBA programme starting in October 2009 may, if suitably qualified, be able to fund the € 19.800 tuition fee in part or in full by means of a scholarship.

The application for the MBA tuition fee scholarship will take place simultaneously with the application for the MBA full-time program. In the application form for the place of study candidates should enter “Young Professional Scholarship” in the section “Financing the program”. The Department of Economics of Universidad Carlos III de Madrid offers a distinguished Graduate Program in Economics to outstanding young graduates in a full time basis. The program is composed by a two-year Master in Economic Analysis aimed at training students in advanced economics, followed by two or three additional years of research towards the completion of a PhD dissertation.
