The Accademia di architettura di Mendrisio (Università della Svizzera italiana) invites applications for 2 fulltime doctoral positions and 1 postdoctoral position (80%) within the interdisciplinary research project “From Ravenna to Vals. Light and Darkness in theArchitecture from the Middle Ages to the Present” funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.
We are glad to announce that “Yousef Jameel Scholarship” Program at Sabancı University is extended for another five years.
The “Yousef Jameel Scholarship” is intended to provide full support to outstanding students seeking high achievements in science and technology. It includes support for, tuition fee, monthly stipend-for accommodation and living expenses and some amount for books and supplies.
“Yousef Jameel Scholarship” can be awarded to the outstanding full time students enrolled in the graduate programs (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, with precedence given to the eligible candidates of the Mechatronics graduate program.
The University of Leicester’s School of Historical Studies and Department of Geography are pleased to offer an MA scholarship for the MA in Social Change and Resistance. The successful applicant will receive £1,000 if studying full time, and £500 per year if studying part time.
Entry Requirements:
Applicants should have a good (either first class or upper second) undergraduate honours degree in an appropriate subject, or if currently in their final year of study, be able to provide evidence that the necessary grades will be achieved. These scholarships are available to Home/EU students only.
Applications are invited for a full-time studentship available in the Centre for Professional Ethics. The studentship is tenable for up to 3 years for a PhD (via MPhil route) [subject to satisfactory progress]. The studentship will cover the cost of tuition fees at UK/EU rates plus a stipend (currently £13,590 for 2010/11) per annum. International applicants may apply but will be required to pay the difference between UK/EU and international fees. The successful applicant will start on 1 October 2010.
The Matsumae International Foundation is a nongovernmental organization. Its Fund is solely based on donations from many Japanese people who have responded with goodwill to Dr. Shigeyoshi Matsumae’s call.
While many donations have been kindly offered by enterprises and groups, most of the donors are individuals who are sympathetic with the Founder’s ideals, and maintain contributions to the Fund from their limited incomes.

Project Details:
The transport industry continuously seeks design and manufacturing solutions that enable lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. This includes hybrid structures involving different material classes (steel, titanium, aluminium and magnesium) and different material forms (rolled sheet, castings, and laminates). This project will focus on novel friction joining technologies for dissimilar material systems (friction stir, friction stir spot, and ultrasonic welding). It is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, EPSRC, and is in collaboration with Manchester University Materials Science Centre.
