We are a culturally diverse, enthusiastic and productive research group interested in inequality in health. One of our focus areas is health status among immigrants in Sweden.

Area of responsibilities/duties:
We are looking for a creative and highly motivated person aiming for a PhD in medical sciences at Karolinska Institutet to strengthen our competence even more.

You will specifically searching whether or not access to different care- and survival after a first myocardial infarction varies depending on age, sex, country of birth or social position. The question will be answered utilizing the national quality registers among other Swedish registers.

Qualifications:

candidates could have a master degree in medicine, statistics, biomedicine, or public health. You should be able to work in a group as well as independently. Previous experience from research, article writing and handling of large databases are considered strengths. Excellent skills in verbal and written English are required. Swedish skills are welcome but not mandatory.

Formal acceptance to PhD studies is a requirement for employment. And the ability to benefit from and successfully complete the PhD program is instrumental to acceptance.

The first two years will be paid through an educational stipend which after the half-time control will be transformed into a PhD position. The research education in Karolinska Institutet is a four-year program. Laws and regulations concerning PhD studies can be found in the Higher Education Ordinance, Chapter 5, paragraphs 1-7.
