			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>We are glad to announce that &#8220;Yousef Jameel Scholarship&#8221; Program at Sabancı University is extended for another five years.</p>
<p>The “Yousef Jameel Scholarship” is intended to provide full support to outstanding students seeking high achievements in science and technology. It includes support for, tuition fee, monthly stipend-for accommodation and living expenses and some amount for books and supplies.</p>
<p>“Yousef Jameel Scholarship” can be awarded to the outstanding full time students enrolled in the graduate programs (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) at the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, with precedence given to the eligible candidates of the Mechatronics graduate program.</p>
<p><span id="more-3904"></span>The scholarship will be awarded to outstanding, both newly admitted and to continuing students. Candidates must have an academic performance indicator clearly compatible with high honors level of cumulative grade point average or have BS CGPA greater than or equal to 3.50. The selection will be strictly based on merit, without any discrimination of gender, nationality, race or faith of the students. In support of international education, under the same other conditions preference will be given to foreign nationals.</p>
<p>The scholarship is awarded to a student for one academic year and it may be extended if student’s performance meets requirements of scholarship.</p>
<p>The scholarship may be awarded to a MS student for maximum 2 years and for a PhD student for maximum 4 years.</p>
<p>If student’s performance does not meet requirements of scholarship he/she may be suspended for further scholarship.</p>
<p>We are inviting applicants for school year 2010-2011 to make their application not later than <strong>30th July 2010</strong>. The application documents should include clear proof of satisfactory performance indicator, the Statement of research interests and achievements, and statement on other financial support applicant receive or will receive for school year 2010-2011.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Istanbul Şehir University, established in 2008 by the Foundation for Sciences and Arts (BSV), will open doors to its very first students in the 2010-2011 academic year with 4 faculties and 10 departments. It is our vision to become one of the most prestigious and renowned research and teaching institutions in Turkey and in the world. Istanbul Şehir University invites international applicants to come study in Istanbul, Turkey.</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>Duration of Study:</strong> At our university, as is the common practice in Turkey, undergraduate programs are 4 years. However, you may shorten this time by taking courses in summer school.</li>
<li><strong>Language of Instruction:</strong> The medium of instruction at our university is English. Students whose English level is not sufficient will go through one year of English Preparatory Program.</li>
<p><span id="more-3830"></span></p>
<li><strong>Structure of Education:</strong> Undergraduate programs are 4 years. All undergraduate programs will follow a common core curriculum in the first year of study. Upon successful completion of first year, students will be given the option to change their departments.</li>
<li><strong>Double Major and Minor Opportunities:</strong> Under the Double Major Program you may follow two undergraduate programs and receive two diplomas. With our Minor Programs, you will be able to receive a certificate that supports your major.</li>
<li><strong>Scholarships:</strong> It has been decided that the entire quota of international students entering our university in the 2010-2011 academic year will be given a full scholarship (including tuition fees, accommodation and health insurance).</li>
<li><strong>Accommodation:</strong> International students entering our university for the 2010-2011 academic year will be provided rooms in our dormitories free of charge.</li>
<li><strong>Health Services and Insurance:</strong> Our university will provide health insurance for all international students in the 2010-2011 academic year.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>GENERAL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS</strong></p>
<p>All  international students* must be either graduates or in their final year  of schools equivalent to Turkish High Schools. The requirements  explained below must also be met.</p>
<p><strong>* Applicants who fit the  descriptions listed below will not be considered to have international  student status:</strong><br />
Citizens of Turkey and the T.R.N.C.,  citizens of either Turkey or the TRNC with dual-citizenship, those with  dual-citizenship who revoke their Turkish or TRNC citizenship after 2011  and complete all of their high school in Turkey or the TRNC, Turkish  citizens who complete their high school education in the TRNC, anyone  expelled for a disciplinary measure from a higher education instution in  Turkey.</p>
<p><strong>APPLICATION PROCEDURE</strong></p>
<p>Applicants  may apply online or via mail between the dates specified below by the  Rectorate to the Student Affairs Office. Explanations and updates  regarding the applications will be announced on the university’s  website.</p>

<li>Certified English or Turkish translation of your diploma (if  available) (your original diploma and a certificate showing equivalency  to the Turkish high school diploma will be requested at registration),</li>
<li>Certified English or Turkish translation of your transcript (the  document, approved by the school administration showing high school  courses taken and grades received by the applicant),</li>
<li>Certified  English or Turkish translation of your national ID card or passport,</li>
<li>A copy of your exam results (if available) indicating English  proficiency (TOEFL, IELTS, etc),</li>
<li>One passport size photo (4.5cm  x 6 cm),</li>

7.1. Gold, silver and bronze  medals taken from International Science Olympiads recognized and  participated in by TÜBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research  Council of Turkey),<br />
7.2. YÖS (Examination for Foreign Students) Basic  Learning Skills test score of at least 50 out of 80 standard points,<br />
7.3.  TCS (Turkish Republics with Turks and Related Communities Test) score  of at least 50 points,<br />
7.4. SAT I (Scholastic Assessment Test) score  of at least 1000 total points and a Math score of at least 500,<br />
7.5.  ACT (American College Test) Math, Science Reasoning and Composite score  of at least 21 points,<br />
7.6. GCE (General Certificate Education) test  with at least 3 subjects related to the department to which you are  applying at the A level,<br />
7.7. International Baccalaureate diploma  grade of at least 30,<br />
7.8. German ABITUR test score of at least 4  points,<br />
7.9. French Baccalaureate diploma grade of at least 10,<br />
7.10.  Matura diploma grade of at least 2,<br />
7.11. Tawjihi of Jordan and  Palestine test score average of at least 70 for all classes in the  Scientific Stream,<br />
7.12. Lebanese Baccalaureate (Baccalauréat  Libanais) diploma grade of at least 60 out of 100 or 13 out of 20 for  tests in the Scientific Stream.<br />
7.13. Al-Shahada al-Thanawiyya  (Baccalaureate) of Syria test score average of at least 170 out of 240  in the Scientific Stream, 165 in the Literary Stream, and 25 in the  Language Stream,<br />
7.14. High School Diploma of Iran (Diploma  Debirestan) average of at least 15/20 and Pishdaneshgahi score of at  least 15/20,<br />
7.15. National University Test of Kazakhstan score of at  least 90 out of 120,<br />
7.16. Gaokaonda-University Entrance Exam of the  People’s Republic of China score of at least 500 out of 750,<br />
7.17.  Besides the above listed exams, applicants may be evaluated by Istanbul  Şehir University based on their high school diploma grade and university  entrance exam results from their countries.The validity period of  exams taken upon completion of high school (Abitur, International  Baccalaureate, GCE, Tawjihi, etc.) is unlimited. However, the results of  other university entrance exams (SAT I and ACT) and YÖS are valid for  only two years.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>APPLICATION EVALUATIONS</strong></p>
<p>The  evaluation of applications and the placement of applicants will be  carried out by the Istanbul Şehir University Admissions Committee. The  Admissions Committee may accept some applicants who have fulfilled the  requirements after preliminary consideration. Applicants without any  test results, if considered appropriate, will be called to take the  International Students Entrance Exam.</p>
<p><strong>ANNOUNCEMENT OF  RESULTS</strong></p>
<p>The names of accepted candidates will be  announced on the university’s web site and applicants will be notified  online. Students who confirm the notification will be sent a letter of  acceptance via mail and online. Applicants must then present their  acceptance letter, together with all other required forms, to the  Turkish Embassy or Consulate in their countries to receive a student  visa.</p>
<p><strong>REGISTRATION</strong></p>
<p>Students admitted to our  university must register in person at the date specified below by the  Student Affairs Office. Registration cannot be done via mail.</p>
<p>You  must bring the following documents with you for registration:</p>
<ol>
<li>Original copy of your high school diploma and its translated English or  Turkish copy certified by the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in your  country,</li>
<li>A Certificate of Equivalency for your high school  diploma: a certificate issued either by the Ministry of National  Education of Turkey or the Turkish Embassy or Consulate in your country  indicating that your high school diploma is equivalent to Turkish high  school diploma,</li>
<li>Original copy of test results submitted in  application and its English or Turkish translation certified by the  Turkish Embassy or Consulate in your country,</li>
<li>A certified Turkish  translation of your passport,</li>
<li>Six (6) passport size (4.5 cm x 6cm)  photos,</li>
<li>A photocopy of your student visa obtained from the  Turkish Embassy or Consulate in your country.</li>
</ol>
<p>To complete the  registration, international students must obtain their Residence Permit  from the Foreign Branch of the Istanbul Police Department and submit  photocopies of the relevant pages to the Student Affairs Office.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Master in Advanced European and International Studies 2010-2011 Studying in Nice &#8211; Berlin &#8211; istanbul &#8211; Rome</strong></p>
<p>The Institut Européen des Hautes Études Internationales (IEHEI) offers a one-year Master programme in European Studies and International Relations. The interdisciplinary trilingual programme (English, French, German) is realised in cooperation with the Institut für Europäische Politik in Berlin, the University La Sapienza in Rome, and the University of Rostock. After successfully completing, participants are awarded the M.A. in European andInternational Studies.</p>
<p>With internationally renowned staff from both the Institute and cooperating institutions teaching on four different modules (International Relations, European Integration, Economy and Globalisation, Federalism and Governance), this programme offers a unique and enriching learning atmosphere. Participants will study in Nice, Berlin, Rostock, and Rome in a group of around 30 fellow students from all over Europe. The MA programme is characterised by challenging discussions, high quality lectures, interactive classes, and simulations.</p>
<p><span id="more-3635"></span>A study trip to the European and International organisations in Geneva, Brussels and Strasbourg conveys the participants insights into the everyday business of practitioners. The Institute may also help students finding internships in European and international institutions.</p>
<p>Parallely the IEHEI offers a purely Anglophone M.A. in Advanced European and International Studies in cooperation with the Istanbul Bilgi University in Istanbul. Courses take place in Istanbul, Nice, Berlin and Opole (Poland).</p>

A postdoctoral position is available immediately at Bilkent University, Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics, to develop proteomic based methods for the early detection of colorectal, gastric, ovarian and lung cancer.</p>
<p>Applicants should have a PhD degree and extensive experience with difficult to express proteins, ELISA-based assay development, mass spectrometry, bioinformatics and statistical analysis. Excellent<br />
communication and organizational skills (both oral and written) as well as the ability to get along with co-workers and faculty in multi-disciplinary research teams are essential.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Turkish Government offers scholarships for Undergraduate and Graduate (Master/PhD) studies, as well as for Research and Turkish Language Summer Courses under the following conditions:</p>
<p><strong>Tentative Application Deadline : 31 May 2010</strong><br />
<span id="more-3337"></span></p>
<ol>
<li>Scholarship notifications are announced through diplomatic channels.  Candidates should apply to the authorized bodies of their own countries or to the Turkish Embassies/Consulates in their respective countries.</li>
<li>Candidate is selected by the related country or Republic of Turkey by the foreign representatives. Commission also selects one reserve candidate for a quota of five, two reserve candidates for a quota of six or more.</li>
<li>Documents of candidates for undergraduate, graduate and research scholarships should be submitted to the Turkish Ministry of National Education through diplomatic channels before 30th June and the documents of candidates for Turkish Language Summer Course scholarships before 30th  April same way. Applications with missing documents or applications received later than the above mentioned dates will not be taken into account.</li>
<li>Turkish Ministry of National Education examines and evaluates the documents and selects the candidate/s. Selected candidates are invited through diplomatic channels.</li>
<li>Candidates of undergraduate and graduate scholarships should obtain a visa of “Education” and the candidates of research scholarships should obtain a visa of “Research (holder of MoNE scholarship)” from the Turkish Embassies/Consulates in their respective countries. Candidates of Turkish Language Summer Courses scholarships can attend a two-month TÖMER course with a tourist visa.</li>
<li>Candidates should be at the address on the invitation letter and bring the application letter and the originals of the diplomas with them. They should cover their own travel expenses.</li>
<li>Candidate registers to the educational institution that he/she is accepted and applies for the scholarship. With the official school registration and scholarship documents he/she applies for “dorms” and “residence permit”. Invitation letter includes necessary information.</li>
<li>Student should apply for the extension of residence permit one month prior to its deadline. Extension of the residence permit is under student’s responsibility.</li>
<li>Undergraduate and graduate students attend Turkish Courses at TÖMER for 1 year. In order to be enrolled to the universities, students should obtain a “high” level of TÖMER Diploma.</li>
<li>Before making their choices, applicants have to inquire about the universities’ conditions of acceptance and registration. Some universities require students to attend a one-year preparatory class and take a final exam. After completing the placement process for a university, requests for university changes are not regarded.</li>
<li>Applications for Medical Specialty studies are unacceptable. However, candidates can take exams for Medical Specialty studies on their own efforts.</li>
<li>Research programs are open to those who want to make a scientific research in his/her particular subject area in a university.  Research duration is between 2-8 months.</li>
<li>Turkish Language Summer Courses are organized in Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa, Kayseri, Antalya and Samsun. Applicants can choose three provinces among them. Courses are not organized in provinces that have no adequate number of applicants. Course dates are from July 1st to August 31st.</li>
<li>School fees, dorm fees and medical treatment expenditures (excluding long term illnesses, serious surgical operations, prosthesis, jaw orthopaedics, orthodontics and teeth prosthesis) are paid by the Turkish Government.</li>
<li>Monthly payment for graduate studies, research or Turkish Language Summer Course is TL 220, and TL 195 for undergraduate studies. Travel expenses and cost of meals are to be covered by the student.</li>
<li>Academic year begins in September. Candidate invited has to register educational institution until 30th of October at the latest.</li>
<li>If a student cannot graduate in normal school time he/she is given maximum a 2 year extra time. If a student cannot graduate in that extra time, his/her scholarship will be cancelled.</li>
<li>It is assumed that the student accepts the conditions of the educational institution and the conditions of the hostel and the conditions of the scholarship that takes place in this document.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>II) ELIGIBILITY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Applicants should not be a citizen of the Republic of Turkey or hold a dual nationality (Turkish and any other country’s nationality).</li>
<li>Undergraduate candidates should have a “good” level of a high school graduation degree. The high school which was graduated from should be equivalent to the high schools in Turkey.  Candidates should not have suspended education more than 2 years after graduation and not be older than 25 years on the date of application.</li>
<li>Candidates for graduate studies (Master/PhD) should be a graduate of a 4-year university and not be older than 40 years on the date of application.</li>
<li>Research candidates should be a graduate of a 4-year university and have a good level of Turkish, English or French.</li>
<li>Candidates for the Turkish Language Summer  Courses should be a university student or a graduate student.</li>
<li>Candidates should not be infected with a contagious disease (HIV, Hepatitis-C and etc) or should not have a disease preventing his/her education in Turkey.</li>
</ul>

<p><strong>A. SCHOLARSHIPS FROM VARIOUS ORGANISATIONS</strong></p>
<p>Scholarships to cover the total or partial costs of tuition and living expenses can be granted by different organisations depending on the nationality of the applicant.</p>
<ol>
<li>In some countries candidates may obtain scholarships from their universities or from organisations such as:<br />
- D.A.A.D. for German students<br />
- D.E.S. for British students<br />
- U.S. Department of Education for American students<br />
- Rotary International Foundation<br />
- Soros Foundation for students from Central and Eastern Europe etc.<br />
If you want to apply for a scholarship of these organisations, please contact them directly.</li>
<li>Fellowships from the French Government for foreign students can also be obtained. Candidates should contact the cultural services at the French Embassy in their country where they may obtain useful information on the procedures to follow.<br />
The deadline for applications for fellowships of the French Government is the end of the calendar year preceding the academic year you apply for.</li>
<li>The I.E.H.E.I. can also, under special conditions related to the nationality and the qualification of the student, present applications to different Ministries and foundations which may award fellowships. These fellowships will be administered by the Institute.</li>
<li>Candidates can also ask for student loans from banks in France or in others countries.</li>
</ol>
<p><strong>B. SPECIAL FUND FOR FELLOWSHIPS FROM THE CENTRE INTERNATIONAL DE FORMATION EUROPEENNE</strong></p>
<p>Candidates who are not able to obtain a fellowship from one of the above mentioned organisations may ask for financial aid from the C.I.F.E.</p>
<p>A limited number of fellowships can be awarded to particularly qualified candidates who are not able to cover the cost of their studies and stay. This fund could be established due to a special contribution from the C.I.F.E., as well as grants from private and public institutions.</p>
<p>Required conditions:</p>
<ul>
<li>Fulfil all conditions for admission</li>
<li>Show a strong commitment to the idea of the program</li>
<li>Be unable to obtain any other form of financial aid (private or government fellowships, personal income, parents’ help, etc.).</li>
</ul>
<p>Important ! In order to substantiate their application, candidates must attach the following papers:</p>
<ul>
<li>a letter giving detailed information of their personal resources</li>
<li>all documents which prove that their request for financial assistance is justified.</li>
</ul>
