Each year the University offers a number of full-time MPhil/PhD scholarships in which fees are paid and a stipend is provided in return for 150 hours teaching or equivalent work over three years. In some cases there may also be fees-only part-time studentships.

Canterbury Christ Church University offers funded studentships of £11,250 p.a. with free tuition. Part-time studentships will provide free tuition only.

Applying for an MPhil/PhD scholarships

In order to apply for an MPhil or PhD scholarship you need to provide three things:

  • A completed application form
  • Two academic references which speak authoritatively about your potential as a researcher at this level
  • A 1500 word Research Proposal

Whilst it is possible to undertake research in all topic areas, the Business School maintains a particular focus on the management of the Public Sector. The University has a national and international reputation for teacher education. MPhil/PhD research in Education is primarily located within the Department of Educational Research although there is supervisory expertise across all Departments and Centres within the Faculty. The Faculty attracts high quality, international and national research students who have research interests within the broad field of Education including: Mathematics Education, Comparative studies in Inclusion/Exclusion, Diversity and Participation, Childhood, Life long learning, and Innovations in Learning, Leadership and the Curriculum.
